Tour Our Data Center
Cisco Certified Data Center We are a Cisco certified data center, so rest assured that Cisco's high standards for infrastructure and personnel are met. Our fault-tolerant infrastructure is designed with N+1 redundancy to avoid any disruption of service. In sum, our rock-solid infrastructure is coupled with a staff of webhosting experts.

Bandwidth (Internet Connectivity)

Multiple DS-3 connections supply incoming bandwidth for the data center, and this connects to an OC-48 backbone that utilizes BGP4 protocol. Our backbone providers are UUNet (a division of WorldCom) and Sprint, two leaders in Internet connectivity.

Servers and Data Storage

We use Compaq ProLiant servers, which consistently lead the industry in performance and reliability. These computers perform exceptionally even during periods of intense server requests. Each contains integrated RAID controllers and hot swappable hard drives, which prevent loss of service from a single drive failure. In the case of drive failure, we simply remove and replace the faulty drive with another redundant drive without any loss of data, and without any loss of service. Moreover, your data is backed up nightly to an automated tape library solution that can handle over 5 terabytes (that 5,000 gigabytes) of data.

Routers and Switches

We use core routers and switches from Cisco Systems. These connect the webservers to the Internet. Because the system is designed with maximum reliability in mind, the switches and routers have redundancy (which means that there are backup systems that instantly take if a problem ever occurs). The data center's internal backbone is the latest Gigabit Ethernet technology available. We can deliver all the reliable capacity you need.

Electrical Power

The data center sits on redundant power grids within the city of Lousiville, so loss of an entire power grid does not disrupt our electrical service. Power coming into the center is conditioned and delivered at consistent levels with redundant UPS systems, backed up by a huge diesel generator. The diesel generator is tested for reliability every month and is capable of producing enough power to maintain the data center for weeks.

Fire Suppression

In the unlikely event of a fire, we have a FM200 Dry Fire Suppression system that would immediately extinguish the blaze through dry chemicals. You've seen the Janus Funds commercial? They thought that this was important in making an investment decision.

HVAC

Redundant Liebert heating, ventilation and cooling units maintain constant room temperature and humidity inside the data center at ideal conditions. Air is vented under the raised floor and directed through perforated panels, allowing for maximum air flow throughout the data center and the equipment itself.

Security and Monitoring

To gain access to the equipment within the data center, a person must swipe an electromagnetic access card to enter the building, provide a personal password, scan his or her hand through a scanner, and then unlock the appropriate cabinet with a key. All access inside and outside the data center is monitored 24x7x365.

In addition to monitoring the movement of people throughout the data center, we monitor our equipment at the Network Operations Center (NOC) and as well as at a remote facility a few miles away. Our experienced NOC personnel utilize sophisticated tools to monitor network utilization, latency, packet loss, and service availability and respond immediately to resolve potential issues so that your service is uninterrupted.
